We are happy to present our newest project from our collection, featuring the update of a master bedroom in Post Falls with tailor-made drapes. This project combines style and practicality, and we will guide you through its journey from concept to the final result.
The Design Process
Creating a balance between style and comfort is key when designing drapes for a primary bedroom. For this project, the client wanted something luxurious but still cozy and practical for everyday use. Here's how we collaborated with them to make their vision a reality:
Choosing the Drapery Fabric in this Post Falls Home
After discussing various options with the client, we settled on a soft, embroidered cotton blend fabric. It offers a natural, slightly organic feel that pairs beautifully with the earthy tones of the room. The fabric's light filtering properties provided the right mix of privacy and soft, ambient light. We chose a light neutral color to complement the room’s palette, enhancing the serene and calm atmosphere the client wanted.
Selecting the Pleat Style
The pleated style was crucial in determining how the drapes would hang and move. After showing the client several pleat samples, they fell in love with the roll pleat style. This pleat adds a structured yet elegant look, offering a sophisticated finish without overwhelming the room's simplicity. It also allows for smooth operation, a key consideration for the traverse rod system we installed.
Rod Hardware and Color
We selected a sleek, matte black rod to tie together the modern touches in the room. The black finish adds a bold contrast against the light-colored fabric, highlighting the drapes as a key design feature. For the finials, we went with a simple, cap design to maintain a minimalist aesthetic. The hardware’s durability ensures it will hold up well with daily use.
The Installation
On installation day, we arrived prepared with all the hardware and custom drapes. After carefully measuring and confirming placement, we secured the rod brackets in place and attached the hardware.
Dressing and Steaming the Drapes
Once the installation was complete, we carefully dressed the drapes. This involves shaping the fabric to fall naturally and evenly. We used a steamer to remove any wrinkles from the fabric, ensuring a crisp and polished look. Steaming the drapes in place also helps the fabric settle more naturally, enhancing the flow of the pleats. Afterward, we made sure the drapes opened and closed perfectly within the system, providing both aesthetic appeal and effortless function.
The Finished Look
The final result met our client's expectations. The embroidered fabric framed the windows beautifully, while the matte black rod added a contemporary touch. The roll pleats offered structure and sophistication, ensuring the drapes looked elegant whether open or closed.
